The calendar at a glance
The operator's Autumn Media Guide says racing is scheduled Friday through Sunday and on holiday Mondays. The California Horse Racing Board's allocation runs September 23–November 3 because regulatory date blocks begin before opening and end after closing; those allocation boundaries are not extra live race days.

Seven automatic Breeders' Cup berths
The Challenge races are the Goodwood and City of Hope Mile on September 26; the Santa Anita Sprint Championship and Zenyatta on September 27; and the American Pharoah, Oak Leaf and Rodeo Drive on October 3. The winner of each earns an automatic berth in the corresponding 2026 Breeders' Cup division, subject to the Challenge Series' official terms.
